As New Condition
'In 1951 a group of women entered Adelaide Teachers College to train as Junior Primary Teachers. These women were born at the beginning of the 1930s into an Australian society of vastly different from that of today - communities that were white, Anglo-Saxon, racist, frugal, pro-British, imperialist, and predominantly Catholic or Protestant. The only constant in their lives was to be change.
At the conclusion of their teacher training they were appointed to country schools in South Australia. They lived, worked, worshiped and played in these country communities.
A Remarkable Group follows the lives of theses women and consequently the great social, political and educational changes they experienced. It is told with candour and humour, and contains memories and anecdotes from many of the women.
