“As South Australia approaches the sesqui centenary of settlement many people are becoming more aware of the history that has grown through these years and discovered that we have much of which to be proud.
Firstly, we honour the name of Queen Adelaide, Consort of King William IV.
On the request of Captain Hindmarsh, first Governor of South Australia, King William consented to naming our capital city Adelaide.
To encourage knowledge of our namesake Queen, this selection of facts is presented by ‘The Queen Adelaide Society 1982’.”
