'... a sequel to All Quiet On The Irrawaddy (published 1979). It describes, through the eyes of, first a recruit then a soldier, in a Northern Irish Infantry Regiment, the events of the early 1930s and eleven years of continuous service in the Far East.
The last part of the book deals with an almost incredible description of the Japanese treatment of POWs, both in the field and in Rangoon Jail, bringing out a message of how training, courage and above all comradeship stood up to the test so long as the individual human body, often crippled by wounds, could survive.'
