“As part of a global world, we have a range of age groups, each of whom have their own specific problems.
Our study here is devoted to older persons in South Australia and the part played by the Elderly Citizens Homes of South Australia Incorporated (ECH) in their care over the past nine years.
The book is essentially a continuation of On Behalf of the Elderly – a history of the Association over the first 25 years, i.e. 1964-1989.
The main aim of this book is to concentrate on the past nine years and to show how the Association has coped with the multipole problems of the at period and its plans for the future.
The number of old people in our society is steadily increasing, and ECH provides the appropriate care and support required to maintain the quality of their lives.
The difficulty is that change has speeded up, and the task of carers is more demanding.
The Association is fortunate to have loyal Residents, supportive auxiliaries and a dedicated staff to serve the needs of its ‘family’.”
