"With the exhibition Phoebe Washburn: Regulated Fool's Milk Meadow, the Deutsche Guggenheim presents the twelfth commissioned work specially created for the museum on the boulevard Unter den Linden. The American artist has used the possibilities presented in Berlin, not just to develop a spatially interactive, complex installation in terms of both form and content, but also to expand on her previous work with new references to industrial and ecological processes. Washburn's extensive interest in the topics of recycling and sustainability are reflected not only by the methods she has used for some time, in which materials for her projects - such as wood and cardboard - are reused from exhibition to exhibition, but also by the presentation of a mechanised biological cycle now showing in Berlin. In addition to this highly relevant subject matter, Phoebe Washburn also provides a very independent contribution to a development that is becoming increasingly important again in the art world: Art is expanded on through its close connection to architecture to design, and to social issues."
